Taking inspiration from Indian and Pakistani chaiwalas – people selling milky tea at roadside cafes – Austin Chai Wala offers that same unique experience here in the United States. There are so many teas and beverages that claim to be chai, but none of them really measure up to the real thing. That's why owners Wajahat Zaidi and Ahmed Malik decided to take matters into their own hands by opening up an authentic chai shop that sells chai imported directly from India and Pakistan.
After trying out hundreds of recipes, the menu of Austin Chai Wala is carefully curated and specially prepared. You can get Kashmiri Chai from the mountains of Kashmir, DoodPati, chai with steamed milk and ground tea from Pakistan or a fan favorite, the Masala chai, which features distinctive Indian spices.
Whether you're tired of coffee and looking for something new, or pining for home on the subcontinent, Chai Wala will prepare you something that will delight you and have you wanting more. There are also little pastries and snack that complement the chai nicely, making it the perfect spot for an after-lunch chai session.
