Mama Chow's Kitchen, a food truck based out of Portland, Oregon, is sure to catch your eye even before the food has caught your heart. The truck itself has been outfitted to look like a cedar cabin, with a cute hatched front below and a bright green awning above the window where you order your food. It was built by a local company, PDX Cart Builders.
Owned by Jeff Chow, with help from the eponymous Mama Chow, his mother, the cart has its roots in Chow's culinary experience in Oakland restaurants prior to its move up to Portland. With house-made soups, wings, and soups, everything has a homemade spin and delight to it that you're sure to be surprised and pleased by.
While it's a relatively simple menu, it doesn't mean that it's limited in its appeal. The small menu's items are stalwarts and sure to satisfy. Anyone who comes by the line that wraps around when Mama Chow's Kitchen is open knows it's well worth the wait and the prestige. You'll come away with one of their items warm, satisfied, and full until next time. It's just as mama's cooking should be – warm, homey, comforting, filling, and above all, of course, absolutely delicious.
