Micklethwait is run and owned by Pitmaster Tom Micklethwait, who was a baker for most of his culinary career. He turned to BBQ after realizing that both had a lot of elements in common and he began experimenting with different recipes. At the same time, he took on a rebuild project to restore a vintage Comet trailer, which is now the official home of Micklethwait Craft Meats
Ever since opening up in 2012, Tom has constantly made a splash with his excellent BBQ style and delicious offerings. He's been ranked as one of the Top 50 BBQ Joints in Texas and consistently ranks in Austin's Monthly Best of ATX. So if you want to find out what the fuss is all about, head over Tom's trailer.
Micklethwait Craft Meats offers up a huge variety of meat, from beef and pork ribs that fall off the bone to sliced pork shoulder, smoked chicken and of course, brisket. If you're hungry, the 3-meat plate is your best option to satisfy your desire for meat, but make sure to save space for dessert! The buttermilk pie and banana pudding are perfect for putting a cap on an excellent meal.
