There are two Phat Cart locations in Portland. The flagship cart has been converted to a brick-and-mortar, sit-down spot on College Street, while the one on Capitol Highway is still serving up its delicious Asian fusion for people on the go. The food cart menu may be smaller than the restaurant's, but there's still a lot to offer, so bring your appetite.
A fan favorite is the fried "Orange Chicken Bento" featuring tender pieces of chicken topped with a spicy-sweet orange peel sauce and served over rice. The equally popular "Mr. Miyagi" sandwich is made using Phat Cart's famous fried chicken, romaine lettuce, lime aioli and tomato. If you're part of the "fill-in-the-blank" bowl culture, you might love the "Gyudon." It is a Japanese beef bowl filled with the most tender rib-eye beef, onions, scallions, and ginger. Pickled red ginger and raw quail egg are then placed on top. Yum!
There are bento box options for every taste, including Hawaiian bento with pineapple, pork, and kewpie mayo. They have the vegan bento with sauteed zucchini, tofu, avocado, spinach, and Korean red chili paste. There are tons of sides that you can turn into a meal, including chicken karaage poppers, octopus dumplings (takoyaki), chicken dumplings and veggie spring rolls.
